The Pomme de Terre schoolhouse stands by itself in Section 24 of Pomme de Terre Township. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the schoolhouse will be open and Merilyn Mau was be there to relate the story of this schoolhouse – when it was built, who were the children who attended – and how classes in a one-room schoolhouse progressed. The Pomme de Terre cemetery is also right there and you can walk through and see if you recognize any names.
Come join us and share your stories of a one-room schoolhouse. We will start at 10 a.m. and probably go until 12 noon. Please bring chairs or blankets to sit on.
